It’s nearly Isle of Wight time…
As ever, Isle of Wight festival has produced on one of the best festival lineups of 2019. This year’s headliners include Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds, George Ezra, Biffy Clyro, Fatboy Slim, plus Lily Allen, Jess Glynne, Madness, Sigrid, Sam Fender, Tom Walker and many, many others.
In previous years the buzz begins the moment you set sail. While the location is rather remote, the festival was surprisingly easy to reach with regular ferries frequently running throughout the day. After docking at Fishbourne, you get the choice of a short bus ride or a hitchhike.
Spare some time to explore in between the manically filled mainstage line-up. The smaller tents invite festival-goers to venture beyond the mainstream and to explore new musicians in an intimate setting. Let yourself wander and find the hidden installations and attractions the festival offers – there’s something for everyone.
This year the festival invites revellers to dress in 60s attire – the festival is themed around The Summer of ‘69 – throwing it back 50 years to the 1969 which saw headline performances from Bob Dylan and The Who, as well as timeless musical influences, including the likes of John Lennon, Keith Richards and Elton John, to name a few.
On the 15th June, those dressed in their 60s-best should gather at 2pm sharp in Strawberry Fields, where one lucky person will be crowned the ‘King or Queen of Summer’. The winner will receive an exclusive backstage tour and a champagne picnic. Keep an eye on Isle of Wight Festival’s official socials for more information closer to the time.
We’d recommend checking out Wild Front on the Friday night, as well as Elephants on the Saturday. Explore, dance, party and drink (albeit responsibly!)
