SPOTLIGHT | JUDAS | NO.1
Welcome to our new series! Here at Local Music Scene we love nothing less than scouting out an emerging artist yet to find a break into the mainstream market.
For those hungry for new music to add to their repertoire, let us introduce to you a collection of upcoming artists worth keeping an eye on over the forthcoming year. The series is simple; it’s a celebration of local, live music.
Bournemouth was where it all began. One night unexpectedly we were stopped in our footsteps and interrupted by the sound of an alternative rock band, a name by which was later to stick with us, JUDAS. It was a killer set from the four-piece, showcasing an EP made up of infectious melodies and hardcore guitar solo’s. Each member had a growing stage presence throughout mostly seen through the charismatic frontman John Clancy.
Having only caught a glimpse of the short but energetic set, we were keen to catch up with the band to find out where they’d been hiding over the last couple of years. It led us to a stopover at the iconic Joiners Arms in Southampton during the course of their 2017 Spring Tour! You can find the interview on our YouTube channel.
Despite being relatively new to the music scene and with only a bunch of tracks under their belt, they’ve gone on to conquer Britain’s music scene; releasing their self-entitled EP, making appearances at major festivals and performing a live set on Soccer AM accompanied by Circa Waves! To top it off, this year they’ll be making a second main-stage appearance at Reading and Leeds Festival!
Their EP ‘We are Judas’, features the likes of ‘Call Me’, a track that encompasses an anthem which really gets heads turning when performed live. Among the slower but more heartfelt, ’Love Is The Enemy’, which appeared on BBC introducing. Lastly a favourite of ours, ‘Youth Of The Young Age’, a fast-pasted track depicting the faults of today’s generation. New tracks are well on the way too as the band recently teased their fans with a series of studio pictures on social media.
From watching JUDAS perform at a small, local venue in Bournemouth only a short while ago to making a main-stage appearance at Reading and Leeds Festival in front of thousands, it’s only the beginning for JUDAS. Their raw energy and hard-hitting vocals makes them a strong contender amongst the inside scene.
