What to expect: Victorious Festival 2016
We’re well into the Festival season for 2016, and Southsea’s bank holiday weekend of family-friendly music and entertainment is just around the corner again. Victorious has something a little different every year, and it’s been getting better and better ever since it started just four years ago.
It’s a great festival no matter how old you are – and there’s a wide range of musical acts from well-known headliners to local singers and songwriters – so it’s the perfect opportunity to discover some new talent that you might just be listening to for a long time to come.
Talking of talent, Victorious have pulled all the stops out this year, bagging themselves some great headliners. Noel Gallagher’s bringing his High Flying Birds to the Southsea common, whilst Public Service Broadcasting will be getting the crowd up and moving with their combination of funky instrumentals and catchy vocal samples.
Classic Welsh rock band Manic Street Preachers are sure to make a noise, whist Radio 1 DJ Annie Mac will be spinning some hard-hitting dance tracks to get the floor shaking.
It’s not all about the headliners though. Victorious prides itself on the sheer amount of local talent it shows off to Southsea and beyond, with over 75 local singers, songwriters and bands performing over the Bank Holiday weekend, including Local Music Scene favourite and friend, Ben Brookes, who will be performing on the Radweb Showcase Stage on Saturday.
We’ll be at both days of Victorious this year, soaking up the atmosphere and watching some great live acts. Follow us on our social media profiles to keep updated with us and the festival, and come and say hello if you see us there!
